from the county line 1.8 miles south to Sunny Isles, this
wealthy enclave is one of the few areas along the beach
that does not allow construction of high rise building.
Only single family homes are permitted along the beach front.
The beach is very clean and quiet, this because there is
virtually no public access at all. Quite literally you can
only access the beach from Hallandale, or from Sunny Is.
The public is permitted on the beach up to the high water
mark. Beyond this it is private property. This autonomous
municipality has its own police force with little to do
except to catch speeders on A1A and keep an eye on non-residents
using the beach. Not a happy place to be, but if you want
to buck the system, by all means enjoy yourselves. No accommodations
or restaurants in this private township.
